Georgia broadcasters report on 2024 election night and results
On Tuesday, November 5, the 2024 Presidential election took place. Millions flocked to the polls to make their vote for President, among other ballot items.
Georgia broadcasters have been diligently covering the election cycle at both a local and national level, providing an essential service to its communities. Coverage has been ongoing for many stations, going back months, even years. This reporting was critical given Georgia’s position as a “battleground” state.
Black Radio United for the Vote, a coalition of Atlanta radio stations, teamed up to mobilize voters to the polls by providing resources and hosting voter registration events. Stations that took part include KISS 104.1, V103, 1380 News & Talk WAOK, Majic 107.5/97.5, Hot 107.9, Praise 102.5, Classix 102.9, Streetz 94.5, Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Smooth Jazz 101.1, and 104.5 FM.
This is the third election cycle that the group has partnered for. In 2023, Black Radio United for the Vote was recognized as the Georgia Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcaster of the Year.
Ahead of the election, NAB President Curtis LeGeyt published an Op-Ed published in The Hill. The piece highlights the essential role broadcasters play in their communities to disseminate accurate, truthful information. Providing this information allows for the station’s audience to make an informed decision.
From record early voting turnout to providing live results, broadcasters continue to be there every step of the way.
In the aftermath of the election, broadcasters covered the results, talking with the elected officials and those they will be serving.

Radio Ink reports on how the election results impact the status of the AM Radio Act in congress.
The 2024 election resulted in the Senate flipping to a Republican majority, this change in leadership stands to effect the outcome of the AM for Every Vehicle act should it not be passed during the 118th Congress.
In the current session, the Act has not yet been scheduled for a vote. With Republicans taking control of the Senate, the fate of the act will likely fall into the hands of one of four Republicans eyeing the role of Senate Majority Leader.
