Atlanta, Ga- Monday, Jun 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM:
A markup that includes the AM4EV Act will take place this Thursday, June 27 in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. This is a crucial step to get the bill passed into law.
H.R.3413 – AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2023 is a bill that would mandate AM radio capability in car manufacturing. This bill has support from the GAB, NAB, Georgia Farm Bureau, and many other organizations. (Click HERE to read an op-ed by Kenny Burgamy, the Director of Information and Public Relations for the Georgia Farm Bureau.)
Lawmakers recently advanced the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act out of a subcommittee (May 23, 2024). The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data and Commerce’s marked up and passed the legislation for full committee consideration. H.R. 3414 has 253 co-sponsors in the House and 61 co-sponsors in the Senate.
If passed, the U.S. Department of Transportation would require automakers to maintain AM broadcast radio in new vehicles at no additional charge. The bill also will ensure rural residents have access to news that may impact their businesses, health care, education, and family.
The National Association of Broadcasters, (NAB) has created new spots and talking points that will enhance the AM radio legislative strategy for the GAB and other state associations. We kindly ask that you run these PSA’s as often as possible between now and Labor Day. (For both NAB members and non-members.)
These spots convey a sense of urgency that the time for Congress to act is now. They send listeners to a platform that allows them to urge their legislators to reach out to House and Senate leadership requesting a vote.
