WHO?
The Georgia Association of Broadcasters, the oldest state broadcasting association AND Georgia broadcasters!
Founded in 1934, the GAB has remained committed to serving Georgia broadcasters. Having recently completed the organization’s 90th Anniversary Roadshow celebration, the association is excited to continue celebrating alongside its members.
GABCON welcomes hundreds of broadcasters from across the state of Georgia to its annual convention every year.
WHAT?
The GAB Convention, more commonly known as GABCON, is the largest annual gathering of Georgia broadcasters. After the convention’s re-introduction by President Bob Houghton, the GAB has gathered with Georgia broadcasters each fall to celebrate, learn and connect with broadcasters from across the state.
From the moment that broadcasters arrive on Jekyll Island until their departure, the GAB has curated a schedule that allows for networking with peers from across the state; learning from industry professionals; and celebrating all Georgia broadcasters’ incredible achievements from the previous year at the annual GABBY Award Show.
WHEN?
This year’s GABCON kicks off on Friday, September 6 with registration and pre-conference sessions beginning at 12 pm EST. A welcome banquet will be hosted that evening at the Marshside Lobby.
The following day, Saturday, September 7, attendee registration opens at 7 am, and sessions will start at 9 am. The day offers extensive opportunities to learn and network with peers. The Honors Luncheon, recognizing the GAB’s Golden Mic Recipient (Donna W. Hyland), Georgian of the Year (Brian Kemp) and Legislator of the Year (Jason Anavitarte), will take place from 12 – 2 pm.
The party continues in the evening, with a pre-GABBY Award cocktail reception from 5 – 6 pm and the GABBY Award Banquet beginning at 6 pm. The night will round off with a celebration of another successful weekend at the GABBY Awards after party.
