ATLANTA, Ga–
It is with the deepest of regret that the Georgia Association of Broadcasters informs you of the passing of Ditty-McLemore Broadcast Engineering Award recipient, Dick Boekeloo. At just 68 years old Dick passed away on the morning of October 3, 2018. Dick was an original member of the GAB Ditty-McLemore Broadcast Engineering Award class in 2013. This award recognizes excellent work in broadcast engineering. Dick was also a valuable member of the team that helped rewrite the Emergency Alert System (EAS) Plan in 2012. He spent nearly 30 years maintaining the technical facilities of several coastal Georgia AM and FM broadcast facilities.
Dick Boekeloo was an integral part of many radio stations in the Brunswick area and throughout the eastern and coastal regions of Georgia. He will be deeply missed. Dick leaves behind his wife, Linda Boekeloo and his father who is 94 years old. Dick’s memorial service is Saturday, November 3 at the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick, 1105 Union Street. Visitation is 1-3 p.m., service at 3 p.m. and reception to follow.
