TEGNA is looking for a Photojournalist/ Master Editor/ Producer to join the award-winning Atticus team. Atticus is a company-wide, longform storytelling team working out of the WXIA, Atlanta Newsroom. The Atticus mission is to change the world through powerful storytelling and investigations. This team’s digital, episodic series have changed laws and saved lives. Atticus has been honored with two National Murrows, dozens of Emmys, and NAB Service to America Awards, among others. The team is searching for an exceptional visual journalist/editor to help continue to produce eye-opening journalism.

As a member of this team, you’ll be asked to try new things, get innovative, and be flexible. A passion for storytelling is a must, along with an eye for creative shooting and editing. We are looking for a leader who helps drive decisions and charts the course of stories.

Responsibilities:

Shoot and edit multi part series that stand out from typical local news stories.
Help produce character-driven stories using the latest editing and photography tools including premiere and aftereffects.
Perform post-production work using color grading preferred
Knowledgeable in advanced lighting skills for broadcast.
Mirrorless and Sony FS series camera experience preferred
Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
Advance storytelling experienced required
Contact sources and develop news stories.
Willingness to cover breaking, sports, feature, and investigative news stories.
Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and suggest story ideas.
Edit and post video and text content stories for the website.

Demonstrated news judgment with high end photography and non-linear editing skills.
Advanced experience in shooting and editing news series.
Advanced experience in Adobe Premiere and some experience in After Effects
3-5 years’ experience editing powerful journalism series
BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
Clear understanding of the principles of journalism
Demonstrated social media proficiency, including an active news gathering on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Member and active participant in NPPA/IRE preferred
Work Environment: Office

Physical Demands: Light work

Travel: Occasionally: 10-25%
