About WTOC:

WTOC-TV is the Gray Television-owned CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia. We serve 17 counties in the South Georgia Coastal Empire and three counties in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Job Description:

WTOC is looking for an experienced meteorologist to join our team as our weekend evening meteorologist. This position also works as a meteorologist three days a week on our morning newscasts assisting with traffic and weather. The right candidate must have previous on-air experience as a meteorologist in a news market, embrace digital platforms, and have excellent communication skills.

General Responsibilities:

– Conceptualize and produce accurate weather forecasts and weather-related content across multiple platforms.
– Identify and communicate the “weather story of the day” to a cross-platform audience.
– Be ready and available whenever severe or disruptive weather events may occur.
– Clearly communicate the weather information to the editorial staff for planning purposes.
– Conceptualize and create weather graphics and analyze data from a number of meteorological sources in order to communicate engaging weather forecasts.
– Available to work both in the studio and in the field.
– The ability to interact professionally and effectively with all internal employees and external organizations.
-Ability to produce and co-host weather-related podcasts.
-Help turn weather-related content for our broadcast and digital platforms.

Qualifications:

– At least 2 years experience as a broadcast meteorologist/weather anchor
– BS/BA in Meteorology/Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
– Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the nature of weather events
– Live shot experience in the field is preferred.
– Ability to shoot, edit & write content is a bonus.
