Job Description and Responsibilities
WXIA-WATL is looking for a creative and curious TV broadcast producer to create newscasts that inform, impact, and engage Atlanta’s vibrant audience.
Our ideal candidate is energized by developing fresh ideas and has an eye for finding innovative ways to share stories that bring value to our audience’s lives. We want someone who is producing a show with the audience always in mind, identifying important stories viewers need to know and utilizing crisp, conversational writing and compelling visual elements to hold their attention.
Applicants must have experience taking charge in the booth during breaking news and wall-to-wall coverage, exhibit strong editorial judgement, and have a strong desire to learn and grow alongside our talented team in this top 10 market.
Responsibilities
- Craft compelling newscasts that embrace breaking news, enterprise content, emotion, and showcasing
- Work collaboratively with management, talent, and producer team to create a high-quality product and effectively communicate show vision to team members
- Share ideas to help our daily content and newscasts stand out from the competition
- Utilize a variety of storytelling tools, like graphics, touchscreen technology, live cameras, user-generated content, and new forms of media, to elevate content
- Write in an exciting, accurate, and creative way
- Research stories to ensure they are factual and ascertain sources’ credibility

Requirements:

- BA/BS in journalism, communications or related
- Minimum of 4 years of experience line producing broadcast TV newscasts.
- Clear understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
- Proven experience producing live engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
- Strong ability to work under tight deadlines with pressure to incorporate fresh elements into a daily show
- Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred
- Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
- Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
- Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
