Description

Cox Media Group-Atlanta Radio has a part-time opening for a Weekend News Anchor for our News/Talk Station, WSB.

We are looking for an experienced anchor with a great attitude and an exceptional work ethic. The ideal candidate must write conversationally and speak clearly and authoritatively. This position also requires a strong knowledge of current events both locally and nationally.

Responsibilities:

Speaks fluently and conversationally live on the air.
Understands the importance of breaking news and works with speed to get stories on-air.
Edits sound and conducts phone interviews with newsmakers.
Voices and wraps stories after the on-air portion of the shift.
Runs a radio board.
Builds strong relationships with our news partners at the AJC and Channel 2.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

At least five years’ experience anchoring radio news.
Must be able to work quickly under deadline pressure.
Must have strong writing skills.
Knowledge of Newsboss or a comparable news editing software program.
Self-directed and able to work independently or with a team.
Weekend hours.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Communications or another writing-intensive discipline and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
