Job Description/Summary:
WTOC is looking for an experienced TV news journalist to join our team as our new weekend anchor and MMJ. This position requires working as an MMJ three times a week, and then anchoring our weekend morning newscasts.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Pitching and researching enterprise stories daily.
– Turning at least 2 stories on 2 different topics daily as an MMJ (There are exceptions to everything.) As an MMJ, you will need to drive to own stories, shoot own video, write own scripts for both broadcast and digital platforms, edit own stories, and run own live shots.
– Responsible for staying up to date and confirming stories that happen in your assigned beat.
– Ability to fill in on different shifts as needed.
– Ability to work well with others…MUST be a team player.
– Ability to communicate clearly on air and behind the scenes.
– Post multiple times daily on multiple station-connected social media sites.
– Must excel at writing for broadcast and digital platforms.
– Must be able to help lead the weekend team on news content decisions.
– Must have experience on the anchor desk.
– Ability to write for digital platforms required.
– Producing experience a plus.
Qualifications/Requirements:
– Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field required.
– At least 3 years of experience in a TV Newsroom working as a Multi-Media Journalist and/or experience as an anchor.
– Proven reporting, anchoring and videography skills required.
– Must be organized and great with time management.
