Job Summary/Description:  

WTOC is searching for an experienced Anchor and MMJ to help lead our digital efforts across all platforms with tremendous story-telling abilities, advanced ad-libbing skills and clear communication abilities.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

– Pitching and researching enterprising stories geared towards a digital audience.
– Turning stories for digital consumption. Must be able to work as an MMJ. Some assignments will include a photographer.
– Working with management team on strategic planning of unique digital stories and series.
– Working with management team to create unique digital content surrounding large planned events or during breaking news situations.
– Works as a digital producer when needed.
– Ability to create, plan, and execute podcasts.
– Anchoring digital coverage of large events, news conferences, and both unscheduled and scheduled events on digital platforms.
– Ability to fill-in as an anchor on broadcast when needed.
– Ability to fill-in as an MMJ on broadcast when needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

– Must have at least 2-3 years of experience working as an MMJ, Reporter, or Anchor in a TV newsroom outside of college, with more than 5 years of experience preferred.
– Must have previous anchoring experience.
– Must have a proven track record of strong ad-libbing skills during breaking news or other major events.
– Must have the ability to work well without constant supervision.
– Ability to shoot and turn stories on own.
– Creativity and time-management skills are a must.
– Previous knowledge of working an OTT/Streaming desk is a plus.
– Strong writing skills for both broadcast and digital platforms are required.
