JOB PURPOSE:

 

Reporter and Field Producer for production of weekly stories for the Georgia Farm Monitor television program. Must routinely develop own story sources and set up those stories in field unless directed to a specific story by Exec. producer or Producer. Takes television story from concept to finished product on weekly deadline.

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

To produce one or more weekly TV stories. Either assigned a story idea or must develop one through phone calls to farmers, researchers, etc. Travel to a story site, assess the situation, create the story concept, produce and tape a TV story meeting Farm Bureau standards and practices; return to the studios and organize, edit, voice and produce a self-contained television package (narrative video story) or VO-SOT for weekly national television program.

 

Ability to develop story leads and ideas on own. Ability to solve tactical problems involved in the production of a television video story. Ability to operate highly technical television equipment. Ability to conceptualize, structure and edit various pieces of video product to create a coherent TV story. Ability to certify video/audio stories conform to GFB organizational policy and values. Using news judgment, gather stories, edit them, and write newscasts for GFRN radio network’s eight daily programs.

 

Must be able to drive and commute to stories around the state on a weekly basis.

 

Weekly travel by car can be expected.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

 

Produce up to three, daily 2-minute radio newscasts as necessary for the Georgia Farm Radio Network.

 

Create, shoot, and edit promotional videos for other departments within the Georgia Farm Bureau

 

Help develop a strategy for marketing the television show and social media sites.

 

Possess excellent nonlinear editing skills with experience on Final Cut Pro HD. Competency with the following programs: Bias PEAK 6, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Photoshop.

 

Backup Technical Director for the Georgia Farm Monitor. When required: take produced stories from news staff and other sourced stories and ingest in non-linear editing system; produce dynamic & static graphics for use in show; setup studio cameras/CCU’s, lighting, teleprompter, audio for program; record program segments to editing system; with producer(s), edit segments for time/content into final package for air. Close-caption program and duplicate for stations. Convert format of television program video segments for use on YouTube Channel website or DVD creation.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

1+year experience in radio and/or television news, sports, online broadcasting and editing.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

NA

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

Extensive air and car travel necessary, including nights and weekends to visit farms and venues in Southeast, attend multiple-day conventions and meetings. Ability to lift and transport 60 -80 lbs. of television production gear. Valid Georgia driver’s license required.
