Job Summary/Description:  

General responsibilities include overseeing the engineering and technology functions of a broadcast television including leading a team of engineers and IT staff, overseeing department budget and providing leadership for the installation of all station equipment and technology.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

– Lead a team of engineers and IT personnel.
– Oversee the Engineering and Technology department budget(s) and assist with capital budget planning.
– Hire, manage, mentor, and motivate department staff.
– Chief Engineer makes sure that all FCC rules and regulations are followed, and the station is in complete compliance with the FCC and FAA.
– Responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of all equipment including audio, video, RF broadcast gear, and critical IT systems.
– Position is also responsible for facility maintenance and management, including all building and ground maintenance, broadcast tower maintenance, and remote transmitter site maintenance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

?? A degree in Engineering, Computer science, IT-related field or equivalent broadcast experience.  A minimum of five years of experience managing at a broadcast station.  Experience in field operations and IP new-gathering technologies is a plus.  Knowledge of modern digital broadcast equipment including but not limited to transmitters, transport stream encoders, video switchers, audio consoles, automation systems, robotic camera systems, and ENG equipment is also desired.

?? Prior Chief Engineering Experience is preferred.  Candidate must have excellent communication skills and ability to work interdepartmentally.  Understanding of both serial and IP communication, and IT systems, servers, desktops, and virtual environments is also required.
