The 2024 NAB Show, hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters began this past weekend in Las Vegas.
Taking place from Friday April 12 through Wednesday April 17, the NAB Show hosts broadcasters from across the world to network, learn, explore and plan. According to a report by TV Technology, the NAB expects to host upwards of 70 thousand attendees, as well as 1,300 exhibitors during the 6-day event.
This is the convention’s 101st year.
On Wednesday, April 10, the GAB hosted its first 90th Anniversary Tour Road Show in Macon, GA.
“With 70 esteemed guests in attendance, the afternoon was a testament to the enduring legacy of broadcasting in the state.”
The event recognized and honored the history of broadcasting in Macon and surrounding areas. During the event, the GAB made a donation of $2,500 to the Otis Redding Foundation, supporting ten children in attending a transformative summer camp.
This stop was the first of eight to celebrate 90 years since the inception of the United States first broadcast association. Over the next few months, the GAB will make stops in each of Georgia’s eight major broadcast markets to celebrate alongside its members.
The nest stop of the GAB’s 90th Anniversary Tour will be on Thursday, May 16, in Athens, GA.

On April 11, 2024, the NAB Leadership Foundation announced the 2024 recipients of its Celebration of Service to America Awards. Among those honored included two Georgia stations, WFSH-FM (104.7 The Fish), of Salem Media Group, for its annual “Acts of Love” campaign and WANF-TV (Atlanta News First), of Gray Television, for its investigative report “In Plane Sight.”
ANF and 104.7 The Fish remain vigilant in serving their communities, as seen by recent actions by both stations. Just last week, Atlanta News First brought attention to the mismanagement of Georgia’s foster care system through investigative reporting. In the same week, it was reported that 104.7 The Fish donated an adaptive bike to a terminally ill child.
The GAB is incredibly proud of these two stations for receiving this meaningful award, and congratulates them, as well as all other recipients. Especially now it is important to remind ourselves as broadcasters that our purpose is to serve and give back to our local communities, whether through donations, fundraisers and investigative reporting.
On Wednesday, April 17, WDUN Gainesville will be opening the doors to its newest addition, a studio in the heart of downtown Gainesville on the floor of the Gainesville Renaissance building.
While the studio space is new, it was 75 years ago that the station was founded just steps away from its new addition.
In celebration of two momentous occasions for the station, the opening of its new studio and WDUN’s 75th anniversary, a celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the morning of April 17. The celebration will include birthday treats, studio tours and a digital guestbook.
According to a report by WDUN, “Starting Spring 2024, WDUN’s daily broadcasts will be ‘Live From the Renaissance Square’ and listeners will be able to witness live radio shows through our window on the square.”
WSB-TV’s Clark Howard’s Habitat for Humanity project is working to complete its 100th home. This milestone represents the 100 families that Howard and his team have helped through their partnership with Habitat for Humanity, which has lasted for almost 30 years.
Once the zero-interest mortgage home is complete it will be dedicated to first-time homeowner Zeroline Rogers, who has been working alongside the crew to complete the construction of the home.
In a report by WSB-TV, Howard shares, ““Right now, a lot of people feel the American dream is broken. They’re bringing home a check, but it’s never enough to be able to buy a home, and Habitat is this special ladder up to homeownership.”
This 100th home milestone is not Howard and his team’s stopping point, as they’ve already begun construction on the 101st home in Tulsa, Okla.
The GAB applauds Howard and his team for their relentless dedication to giving back to those in need across the country.
