Two Georgia stations were awarded Marconi awards during the NAB’s annual NAB Show New York.
During a dinner celebration held at the Javits Center on Oct. 25, the NAB celebrated “excellence and performance in radio,” awarding more than 20 Marconi Awards to hardworking stations from across the country.
“Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio,” says the NAB in a press release.
Included in these stations are two Georgia radio stations; WALR-FM, Kiss 104.1, received the Marconi award for “Major Market Station of the Year” and WLKQ-FM, La Raza 102.3/100.1, received the Marconi award for “Spanish Language Station of the Year.”
Congratulations to these two well-deserving stations for the tireless work and commitment they have dedicated to their communities.
“The Marconi Award is truly the pinnacle award that a radio station can receive,” says GAB President, Bob Houghton. “GA has a long standing tradition of winning Marconi Awards. This year, we are proud to say two of our stations were recipients. Congratulations to WALR and WLKQ.”
NAB Show New York is being held Oct. 24-26, 2023 at the Javits Center in New York. The conference is described as, “the most efficient and diverse event experience on the East Coast for the broadcast, media and entertainment industry.”
