Leaders from the Georgia broadcasting industry traveled to Washington, D.C. last week to participate in the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) State Leadership Conference, an annual gathering that brings together state broadcaster associations and industry leaders from across the country to advocate for the future of local broadcasting.
Representing Georgia, members of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) met with members of Georgia’s congressional delegation to discuss key policy issues impacting local radio and television stations. Conversations focused on protecting and strengthening the role of broadcasters as trusted sources of local news, emergency information, and community service.
“It was great to be in our Nation’s Capital with our GAB local radio and television members for NAB’s State Leadership Conference last week,” said GAB President Randy Gravley. “We met with our Georgia elected officials and discussed issues that will help strengthen and protect the broadcasting industry. Many thanks to the NAB and all of the GAB members who attended and advocated on behalf of Georgia broadcasters.”
During the visit, Georgia broadcasters also celebrated a major national recognition for the state’s broadcasting community. WSB Radio was honored with the prestigious NAB Crystal Award, recognizing the station’s outstanding commitment to serving its community through impactful public service initiatives.
The conference provided an opportunity for Georgia broadcasters to engage directly with federal policymakers, share the important work local stations do every day, and ensure the voice of local broadcasting continues to be heard in Washington.
