The Georgia Association of Broadcasters is proud to partner with numerous nonprofits, state agencies, and other charitable organizations to disseminate timely information on critical state issues through our Public Education Partnership (PSA) program in Georgia.
One of our partners, is Georgia 811, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preventing damage to Georgia’s underground utilities and promoting public safety. This year in 2024 Georgia 811 is celebrating their 50th Anniversary. With the mission to promote safety and prevent utility damage, Georgia 811 celebrated the occasion with various events, initiatives, and tributes to remind stakeholders and the general public of the importance of contacting 811 before digging.
Our team sat down with with Georgia 811’s President and CEO Meghan Rafinski to talk about the anniversary, the tragedy that led to the creation of the organization, and of course the importance of safe digging.
