The awards were presented to: Jim Wallace from WALB-TV, “Ms. P”, Paulette Thornton from V101.7, Karla Heath-Sands from WALB-TV and Jaxon Riley from WALG Talk Radio.
The GAB was also pleased to recoginze, Cedric Scott, Fire Chief of the Albany Fire Department and Director of the Doughtery County Emergency Management Agency. Chief Scott shared a few words about the essential alliance between broadcasters and emergency responders. Each emergency department in attendance was also brought to the stage to be recognized with a “Spirit Award.”
The GAB was also proud to have vital community leaders and guests in the audience including, Mayor Bo Dorough, Dougherty County Chairman, Lorenzo Heard, Commissioner Clinton Johnson, Acting County Administrator Barry Brooks and Public Information Officer Phyllis Banks. Their presence added great value to the event and highlighted the importance of the relationship between our civic leaders and the broadcasting community.
At each roadshow, the GAB shows its support for the community by presenting a $2,500 scholarship or donation to a deserving community charity or organization. In this market, the GAB presented the donation to Horizon Community Solutions. Horizon Community Solutions helps to promote cancer screenings in hopes to help those fight cancer and save lives. The GAB hopes for its donation to help further the pursuits of cancer screenings and help those who may be battling cancer.
The GAB considers it a sincere privilege and honor, to recognize such influential individuals in broadcasting within the Albany community. We eagerly anticipate the continuation of our Roadshow Tour in Savannah, Georgia on July 30th, 2024.
