Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP)

NOTE:  Exceptions to immunity: Tower safety issues & compliant-initiated issues related to political broadcasting or public file.

• Download and complete the ABIP-Inspection-Form

• Send the completed form to admin@gab.org

• Once the inspection request is received, the GAB contacts the inspector to schedule a visit. The inspector will notify the station of the inspection date. The GAB will inform the FCC that an inspection is pending. For a period of 150 days from the date of the agreement, the station will not be subject to a random inspection.
• IF THE STATION DOES NOT PASS: Once the FCC inspection is completed, the station receives confidential reports outlining problems/violations. If issues are found, they must be corrected within 60 days of being notified. If the station does not meet requirements a re-inspection will be scheduled.
• IF THE STATION PASSES: When the inspection is complete, the GAB bills the station for the inspector’s travel expenses. When a re-inspection occurs, the station must pay the inspector’s travel expenses for both inspections.
• After payment, the GAB sends a signed certificate and the station should display it in the entryway of the station or in a highly visible area.
